The single, “Take My Hand,” which was originally recorded by Sara G. at the Business Incubator, has hit the Canadian Top 40 record charts.

Sara G. recorded a number of singles at Alchemy Records, located at the Business Incubator, last winter including her debut single “Take My Hand.”

The song was released this week by Wired Media Corp. and Inasense Records, both Grand Junction-based businesses, to Canadian CHR/Top 40 and Hot AC radio stations, said owner Page Tucker.

“Less than two percent of artists get to be played on the radio so this is absolutely huge,” Tucker said.

The song was remixed in Toronto last July as a duet with Canadian R&B/hip-hop artist Jordan Croucher, better known as JRDN. He has made a name for himself on the Canadian charts carrying simultaneous No. 1 spots for his song “Like Magic” on the MuchMusic Countdown and Much More Music.

Sara G. acted in the “Like Magic” video as JRDN’s love interest.

“Take My Hand” is listed as a dance/rock song and was released to iTunes Sunday. “Take My Hand is just a really good song about dancing with friends, celebrating life and simply having fun,” said Sara G.

Sara G., a 22-year-old from Canada, is not new to the music business but has yet to leave her mark on the American scene.

She was crowned 2007 Miss World Canada and won the pageant’s talent competition with her rendition of Sarah McLachlan’s song “Angel.” She is the youngest woman to win the title.

Like many aspiring singers, Sara G. began posting videos of herself and taking song requests on YouTube, which is where Tucker discovered her talent.

“It is just so cool to know that we did all this down at the Incubator and everything to promote her was shot by local business,” Tucker said.

He thought Grand Junction was the perfect place to produce an album because it would be free of distractions, has beautiful on-location sets and would keep production costs to a minimum.

Page said the next step is to release a second single, then complete her first album. Sara G. plans to return to the Grand Valley soon and hopes to record her first full-featured music video atop the Colorado National Monument.
