Last-second shot lifts Ouray to win

Jacob Fedel came through when his team needed him.

Friday in the Class 1A District 1 boys basketball tournament at Olathe High School, Fedel hit the game-winning shot to lift Ouray to a 59-57 victory over De Beque.

With 18 seconds left and the score tied 57-57, Fedel — who scored seven points in the win — went to work on his defender. After shaking free, Fedel drove to the basket, making a layup with 2 seconds left.

The win sends the Trojans into a semifinal matchup with Plateau Valley at 7:30 tonight.

In other games at Olathe, Norwood and Vail Christian also advanced to the semifinals.

In the girls Class 1A District 1 tournament, also at Olathe, North Park, Dove Creek and Vail Christian all advanced to today’s semifinals.
