Mesa’s Anastasia wins Sprints crown
Colorado Mesa University Nordic skier Tre Anastasia won the Mesa Sprints on Saturday on Grand Mesa.
Anastasia went out fast in the men’s final and led the entire race. Western State College skier Chris Lange finished second, and the Air Force Academy’s Stefan Zavislan, ranked first in the Rocky Mountain Conference, was third.
CMU’s Duncan Koehn and Dustin Wanstrath finished seventh and eighth respectively.
In the women’s race, Mesa freshman Kacie McCleary finished third, behind University of Wyoming skiers Sierra Jech and Bridget Weiner. Brooke Bosman was seventh.
The CMU Invitational continues today with the Grand Mesa Classic, a 10km race in conjunction with the Grand Mesa Nordic Council.
GJ Rockies seat selection is Feb. 26
Seat Selection Sunday for Grand Junction Rockies season ticket holders is at 1 p.m. on Feb. 26 at Two Rivers Convention Center.
Season ticket holders will select their reserved seats by priority number and must be present, or have a representative present, to choose where they will sit for the inaugural season of the Rookie affiliate of the Colorado Rockies.
Season tickets are still available for purchase, $299 for all 38 home games, by calling the Grand Junction Rockies at 255-ROCK or going to GJRockies.com. The Rockies’ home opener is at 7:05 p.m. on June 23 at Suplizio Field against Idaho Falls.
