Mesa women finish 8th in Texas

The Colorado Mesa women’s golf team finished eighth in the 17-team Lady Buff Stampede in Amarillo, Texas, shooting a 331 on Tuesday for a two-day total of 663 on the Tascosa Country Club Course.

Sara Swaney was the Mavs’ top scorer, finishing tied for 10th with a two-day total of 159. Swaney and Loren Forney, who tied for 13th, both shot a 6-over-par 78 on Tuesday to lower their scores from the first round. CSU-Pueblo’s Julie Sanchez was the top individual, carding a 150 to win by two shots.

Colorado Mesa’s other scores were: Zoe Woodworth, 170, tied for 41st; Taylor Walters, 174, tied for 58th, and Rachel Cavalier, 184, tied for 73rd.

The Lady Buff Stampede was the Mavs’ final fall event. Colorado Mesa’s next scheduled tournament is in March.
