Grand Gents top Ridge View

The Grand Gents high school rugby team defeated the Ridge View Academy Rams 15-8 on Saturday on the eastern plains.

Teddy Benge, Marsh Casey and Trey Gershon scored tries, with Gershon and Casey selected Men of the Match.

The Gents play Fort Collins on Saturday at Roaring Fork High School in Carbondale.

 

Gymnastics

Colorado West places 4th in state

 

Colorado West gymnasts took fourth place in the Senior Division Level 8 state meet last weekend.

Gracie Piccinati won the uneven parallel bars with a score of 9.65 and placed sixth all-around. Madison Thompson was 16th all-around; she and Piccinati qualified for regionals.

Kathryn Sufka also competed for Colorado West, with her highest place 14th on floor.

 

Basketball

2 Fruita girls place in Skills Challenge

 

Two Fruita girls placed at the state level in the Denver Nuggets Skills Challenge earlier this month.

Ava Wille placed second in the 7/8 girls division and Ryanne Buck was third in the girls 13/14 age division.

Players are tested on their dribbling, shooting and passing skills in local, regional and state competitions.
