StarTek moving back to Eastgate location
StarTek is coming full circle in Grand Junction after it released plans recently to move back into its former location at the Eastgate Shopping Center on North Avenue.
For about the past two years, Grand Junction’s branch of StarTek has been operating solely out of its downtown office, 630 S. Seventh St. StarTek provides customer service for other businesses.
A need to grow the business and hire more employees is prompting the move, which should be complete by early September, according to business representatives.
“We’ve kind of outgrown the space we’re in,” Star Tek spokeswoman Rosemary Hanratty said.
Hanratty said StarTek will be utilizing its former space and more units at 2830 North Avenue, but not the entire strip that includes the former City Market building. She did not know how much square footage Star Tek would use there.
Workers will be remodeling the interior with full wall graphics and other updates, “making it a great environment to work in,” Hanratty said.
In 2010, Star Tek employed 372 people at its Seventh Street location and 200 workers in its North Avenue location.
StarTek in Grand Junction currently has more than 500 employees and will continue to hire more employees throughout the year, the company said.
Hanratty said the new hires are the result of the company expanding its number of clients and growing with its current client base.
Having Star Tek move operations to North Avenue will no doubt help businesses there as well as occupy space that has been empty for years, said Kelly Flenniken, executive director of the Grand Junction Economic Partnership.
“It will help all those businesses around there,” she said. “It’s much better to have it occupied. It’s a nice facility to have them.”
