Student of the Week: FMHS senior Martin Zupan
After-school activities: Football and track.
Favorite book: “Mountain Man.”
Favorite TV shows: “Two and a Half Men” and “Myth Busters.”
Favorite musician: Carlos Santana.
Parents: Tom and MariaSol Zupan.
Personal hero and why: My dad. When I was little I used to always say, “My daddy fights the bad guys.” And I’ve always seen myself being a lot like him.
Preferred college: University of Colorado in Boulder.
Preferred career: Petroleum engineer.
Greatest achievement so far: Making it to the state track and field meet last year.
What you would like to be your next greatest achievement: Run the 100-meter dash in less than 11 seconds.
Q: What has been your favorite high school class so far and why?
A: Chemistry, because I love math and being able to apply math to science and experiments is really cool.
Q: What do you do for fun when you’re not in class?
A: I enjoy playing music, hanging out with friends and watching ESPN.
Q: What’s the best advice a teacher, coach or parent ever gave you?
A: My dad before every football game or track meet always tells me, “Pick ‘em up, put ‘em down.” It can apply to anything in life.
Q: What will you miss the most about school after graduation?
A: Athletics, because it’s just always been a big part of my life.
Q: What would you like to do after college?
A: Travel and work overseas to allow my kids the same kind of life I had growing up.
Q: If you could spend your next summer anywhere in the world, where would you go?
A: Quito, Ecuador.
