Students’ art to be displayed

Like the flowers of spring, these events will have you stopping to take in the art of blossoming local talent.

■ An opening reception for the second 2012 BFA Studio Art Candidates Show will be from 6–8 p.m. Friday, April 20, at the Art Gallery in the Colorado Mesa University Center.

The show will be on display through May 4 and features ceramics, paintings, prints and sculpture from five graduating senior artists.

■ The annual Altrusa Art Fair: A Show of Young Talent features artwork created by area middle and high school students.

A reception for the fair, which is on display at The Art Center, 1803 N. Seventh St., will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 21.

Awards for middle school students will be given at 11:30 a.m. and awards for high school students will be at 1 p.m. A slide show of the winning artwork will be shown during the reception and judges will be present to discuss the art.

The exhibit runs through Friday, April 27.
