Suspects sought in Riverside attack

Grand Junction police are looking for two or three men who attacked a man with a bottle in the Riverside neighborhood, permanently disfiguring his face and causing bleeding on his brain.

Sgt. Bill Baker said Sunday the assault happened around 11 p.m. Friday in the 600 block of West Colorado Avenue.

The victim, a 34-year-old Grand Junction man, was in the area of a party when he was attacked by the men. One of them hit the man in the face with a bottle, breaking the bottle and causing a 6- or 7-inch gash on the man’s face, Baker said.

The man was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital and kept Friday night for observation. Baker didn’t have an updated condition on the man.

Baker said police don’t know what led to the confrontation or whether the victim or the group that attacked him was attending the party in the neighborhood.

Police have no suspect information.

Anyone with information about the assault is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Mesa County at 241-STOP.
