SymFUNy to feature instrument petting zoo
Children with dreams of petting violins or horns need to attend an upcoming event in Grand Junction.
The Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra is hosting SymFUNy from 1:30–5:30 p.m., Saturday, June 5, at the Avalon Theatre, 645 Main St.
During the SymFUNy, members of the orchestra will give a brief explanation of the symphony instruments and let children handle the musical instruments.
In addition to the instrument petting zoo, the SymFUNy event also will feature carnival games, face paining and science kits from locally owned business Learning Works, 1938 N. First St.
The day concludes with a 3:30 p.m. showing of the 1971 Gene Wilder movie version of “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,” rated G.
The Grand Junction Symphony Guild is underwriting the event.
Tickets are $5 for children 12 and younger, $7.50 for those 13 and older and $20 per household (maximum two adults).
Tickets are on sale at http://www.gjsymphony.org or 243-6787.
