Tancredo wins court challenge
Former congressman Tom Tancredo, who left the Republican Party to become the gubernatorial nominee for the American Constitution Party, won his court challenge today to be on the fall ballot.
Two Republican activists, Marian Olsen and Joseph Harrington, had filed suit against the five-term congressman, saying his nomination as the ACP candidate violated election law, and sought to have him removed from the race.
But Denver District Judge William Hood said Tancredo and the party met all the necessary qualifications to place him before voters in the Nov. 2 general election.
Tancredo said he left the GOP because he believes its candidate, Dan Maes, cannot defeat Democrat John Hickenlooper.
