Task force officers find 85 pounds of pot in interstate traffic stop
Two deputies with the Western Colorado Drug Task Force who were working interstate interdiction stopped two vehicles traveling together on Interstate 70 Thursday afternoon.
In the course of their investigation of the vehicles, the deputies found about 85 pounds of marijuana, along with marijuana concentrates and personal-use marijuana.
The deputies valued the marijuana has having a street value of about $225,000.
The first vehicle was driven by 41-year-old Herbert Palacios, of Illinois, who was stopped in the eastbound lane of I-70 near mile marker 24. The second vehicle was driven by Daniel Dove, 54, also of Illinois. He was stopped on I-70 in the eastbound lane at mile marker 32.
Both men were jailed on suspicion of traffic violations and possession of marijuana with an intent to distribute.
