Teen pleads guilty in Montrose attack
Michael Yates, the youth charged with slashing a 17-year-old girl’s throat last year at Montrose High School, pleaded guilty to the crime Wednesday.
Yates, 14, pleaded guilty to first-degree attempted murder charges, a class 2 felony, in exchange for having other charges against him dropped, according to the Montrose Daily Press.
Yates also was charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, according to an earlier article from the Daily Press.
The plea agreement Yates accepted Wednesday calls for the completion of a 7-year stint in the Youthful Offender Services program, the Daily Press reported.
