Teens accused in weekend crime spree

Three teenagers have been arrested in connection with a weekend crime spree in which they reportedly admitted to damaging several vehicles with baseball bats, entering vehicles and stealing items from them and siphoning gas from vehicles.

Joshua Ethan Maxwell, 19, 3238 Glendam Drive; Kyle Meyer, 17, of Whitewater; and Matthew Inman, 15, of Grand Junction were arrested Sunday. All three could face felony charges of criminal mischief and first-degree criminal trespass.

State law indicates arrest records of juveniles charged with a class 1, 2, 3 or 4 felony are public record.

In a news release issued this afternoon, Mesa County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Heather Benjamin said deputies have received reports of damage totaling more than $13,000 from more than 50 victims. There are also believed to be victims within Grand Junction city limits, although the number isn’t immediately known.

The Sheriff’s Department said the crime spree believed to be associated with the teen suspects occurred between 30 and 32 roads from D to E roads, north of 29 and Patterson roads and on Dawn Drive off of 29 Road.
