Telluride is Festival Town, USA
There will be plenty of music in Telluride this summer, starting with the Bluegrass Festival in June and the Telluride Blues and Brews Festival in September.
In between, the Telluride Americana Music Weekend in July, and the Telluride Jazz Weekend and Telluride Chamber Music Festival in August.
The popular Telluride Bluegrass Festival, which annually brings in some of the biggest bluegrass music groups, has already sold out.
The Americana Music Weekend, July 21-23, features some of the best in Americana songwriters. Featured musicians are Radney Foster, Bruce & Charlie Robison, The Greencards, The Trishas, Carrie Elkin & Danny Schmidt and Ashleigh Flynn. The Telluride Jazz Weekend will be at Town Park Aug. 5-7 and at various clubs and theaters in town. Featured artists include Tower Of Power, Allen Toussaint, Rita Coolidge, Taylor Hicks, The Clayton Brothers, March Fourth Marching Band and the Zydekats.
It’s still possible to get weekend all-access pass at the early season discount of $165 through June 15, when prices will go up to $185 for the entire weekend. Promoters expect the festival to sell out, so get your tickets early. Go to telluridejazz.org for more information.
The Telluride Blues and Brews Festival ends the warm weather season with a bang, bringing artists such as Willie Nelson, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Mavis Staples and Marcia Ball to Telluride.
In addition to great music, there will be more than 50 microbreweries offering its wares during Saturday’s grand tasting.
The festival will be held at the town park and there are still tickets available for the festival and camping, but once again, promoters expect a sellout crowd, so don’t wait until Labor Day to get tickets.
