The tea party members mentioned in this article were members of the GOP faux tea party (WSCA) and in no way connected to GJResult/TeaParty. WSCA is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Mesa County Republican Party and in no way reflects the values and principles of GJResult.

I find it interesting that even in the middle of a power struggle between two warring factions of the ‘republican party’, both sides manage to express their hatred for the CONSERVATIVE TEA Party Movement.

The ‘tea party’ label assigned to ms haun would be better labeled as a Flea party since most of the members of the group she belongs to would be more at home with fleas and bedbugs than the everyday, run-of-the-mill Conservative - republican leaning Citizens of Mesa County.
The original, and still most effective TEA PArty is alive and well, and any damage the poorly named wsca can do to the TEA Party Movement is just protection for the party elite anointed Tipton and romney.

Brewer is mistaken about there not being a rift in the local GOP. As for the poor policeman who had to write this incident report, he clearly believes that anyone saying tea party in Mesa County is talking about the same group of people. Speaking strictly as a Democrat, who is getting everything second hand, there appears to be two separate groups claiming to be the Tea Party: GJResult/Tea Party, and Western Slope Conservative Alliance. GJResult claims to have 3,000 members that were organized through grass roots efforts. Western Slope Conservative Alliance is closely aligned with Americans for Prosperity, a Koch Brothers astro-turf group. In fact, WSCA’s fundraising page raises money for AFP. I have no idea how many members WSCA has. I do know that GJResult/Tea Party is irritated everytime that WSCA calls themselves the Tea Party. No members of GJResult/Tea Party were at the May 9 meeting, according to my sources.
