This Week in the Legislature, April 2, 2012

The 2012–13 spending plan is in, and the House will spend much of the week debating it.

■ Today: The full Senate is expected to take up a measure that would extend in-state tuition rates to the children of illegal residents.

■ Tuesday: The Senate Local Government Committee will hear a bill to ensure wind-energy rights stay with the owners of the land it blows over (unlike mineral rights under the ground, which are severed from surface property rights).

■ Wednesday: The Senate State, Veterans & Military Affairs Committee will debate a bill to require voters to show photo identification before casting a ballot.

■ Thursday: The full House is to take its final vote on the budget bill.

■ Friday: House and Senate closed in observance of Good Friday.

■ Next week: It will be the Senate’s turn to debate and vote on next year’s spending plan.

All floor action and committees can be watched or heard on the Legislature’s website, http://www.leg.state.co.us.
