This Week in the Legislature, March 11, 2013

This week, the Colorado Senate is expected to complete work on several controversial gun-control measures and send them off to the House for more action.

Today: The Colorado House is expected to debate for the first time a measure to allow same-sex couples to enter into civil unions.

Wednesday: The House Finance Committee will look at changes to the state’s enterprise zones, including requiring periodic reviews of existing zones to see if they are helping to boost those economies.

Thursday: The House Local Government Committee will look at a bill to allow voters to form job creation districts with taxing authority.

Next week: The Joint Budget Committee will hear the all-important spring revenue forecast, on which next year’s spending plan is based. It allows the JBC to finalize the budget and starts the process for the so-called Long Bill to be introduced into the Legislature.

All floor action and committees can be watched or heard on the Legislature’s website, http://www.leg.state.co.us.
