This Week in the Legistature
Now that the House has completed its work on next year’s $20.5 billion spending plan, a special conference committee will meet to iron out differences between the Senate version of the bill.
■ Today: The Senate State, Veterans & Military Affairs Committee will hear a bill that would raise the state’s renewable energy standard on large rural electric associations from 10 percent by 2020 to 25 percent.
■ Tuesday: The House Business, Labor, Economic & Workforce Development Committee will hear two measures dealing with homeowner associations’ registration and debt collection. (A third bill that requires those who manage them to be licensed will be heard by the committee on Thursday.)
■ Wednesday: The Senate Agriculture, Natural Resources & Energy Committee will hear a bill that would lead to regulation of growing hemp in the state, as called for under Amendment 64, which legalized recreational marijuana.
■ Thursday: The Senate agriculture committee will hear a bill that would create a forest fire air corps.
■ Next week: The House will take up a controversial bill designed to change the way public schools receive state aid.
