Three arrested for heroin, meth, pot charges
Three people were arrested Friday in De Beque for suspected possession of heroin, marijuana and methamphetamine, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.
Members of the Western Colorado Drug Task Force stopped a vehicle at 5:42 p.m. Friday in the area of Fourth Street and Roan Creek Road. Inside the car were James Guy Haley, 41, and Kelee Nicole May, 31, both of Florida, and 38-year-old Jesus Jorge Alanis of Texas.
A deputy spotted a sandwich bag filled with suspected marijuana on the front passenger seat when May stepped out of the vehicle, according to the affidavit. Haley and May consented to a search of their car, purchased in her name on March 3. Inside, Task Force officers found a Coke can that had been converted into a hidden compartment that contained 24.4 grams of suspected heroin in a baggie and two baggies that contained a total of 11.6 grams of suspected methamphetamine. A small amount of suspected heroin and empty baggies were found inside two hide-a-key compartments attached to the undercarriage of the car, according to an arrest affidavit.
A Task Force officer also found less than two grams of methamphetamine behind a concrete wall where Alanis had been standing after the vehicle’s occupants exited the car. Alanis, who had left the area, was re-contacted on Horizon Drive. He admitted to dropping the methamphetamine, according to the affidavit, and was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence.
May was arrested on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia, introducing contraband into a detention facility, and multiple counts of possession of drugs with intent to distribute them, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Haley was arrested on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and drugs with intent to distribute, plus driving without insurance or a valid license and fictitious plates.
All three were booked into Mesa County Jail.
