Three men held in plot to rob, kill in Montrose
The Montrose Police Department on Wednesday was tight-lipped about an alleged plot by three men to rob and kill a local homeowner.
Salvadore Cortez-Herrera, 20, Cody Bishop, 20, both of Montrose, and Jorge Ramirez, 32, of Olathe, were ordered held at the Montrose County Jail on $250,000 bond each following their arrests on suspicion of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, robbery and motor vehicle theft, Montrose Police Cmdr. Gene Lillard said.
Arrest affidavits were filed under seal, he said.
Lillard, who confirmed little about the case because of an ongoing investigation, said a police detective prior to Dec. 22 received an anonymous tip about an alleged plot by the trio to break into a local home, kill the homeowner, steal money and leave town with the would-be victim’s car.
Lillard said one of the suspects was arrested Saturday in the 600 block of Roma Court in Montrose, while arrest warrants were served on the other two as they were being held on unrelated charges at the Montrose County Jail. Lillard declined to identify who was arrested Saturday, or which of the men was served while in custody.
