Three Mesa wrestlers qualify for nationals

Three Mesa State College wrestlers placed in the top four in the RMAC/Super Regional 4 tournament in San Francisco and qualified for nationals.

Chester Granard, Shane Miller and Tyler Nelson qualified for the NCAA Division II national championships for the first time.

Granard took second place in the 165-pound weight class, losing to Nebraska-Kearney’s Joey Wilson, 14-11, in the final. Miller placed fourth at 197 and Nelson took fourth at 133.

Mesa’s Jon Gappmaier and Zak Slotten took fifth place and Daniel Romero finished sixth.
