Three more flu cases confirmed in western region

The state of Colorado is reporting three more confirmed cases of the H1N1 (swine) flu virus in western Colorado, bringing the region’s total to five.

Two more cases have been confirmed in Eagle County, giving that county three confirmed cases overall. Two cases now have been reported in Garfield County, which announced its first confirmed case Wednesday.

Statewide, the Department of Public Health and Environment on Thursday reported 25 confirmed cases, up from 19 on Wednesday. Most cases are in the Denver metropolitan area, with the largest number, six, occurring in Arapahoe County.

None of the latest cases required hospitalization; all of those infected are recovering, the Health Department said. Only one of the 25 overall cases is known to have involved hospitalization.
