Three nominated to fill GarCo judge vacancy

A current and former prosecutor in the 9th Judicial District and the attorney for Garfield County have been named as finalists to become a district judge in the 9th District.

The Ninth Judicial District Nominating Commission has nominated Anne Norrdin and Tari Williams of Carbondale for the opening, along with Scott Turner of Denver.

The vacancy is being created by the retirement of Judge Daniel Petre Oct. 1.

Williams currently works as the Garfield County attorney. Norrdin is assistant district attorney in the 9th District, which includes Garfield, Pitkin and Rio Blanco counties. Turner is a former 9th District assistant DA who last year took a position as a deputy state attorney general for the Criminal Justice Section.

Gov. John Hickenlooper has 15 days to appoint one of the three as judge. Comments on the nominees may be emailed to Hickenlooper at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
