Three sent to hospital after crash

Three people were sent to St. Mary’s Hospital with minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash closed Patterson and North First Street for a few hours Saturday afternoon.

At about 2:30 p.m., an elderly woman driving her vehicle east was attempting to cross traffic when her vehicle was struck by a car heading west, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.

The woman suffered a broken leg and ankle, police said, but they did not know the condition of the other two people involved in the crash.

The road was reopened at about 5:30 p.m.

Police said few witnesses to the crash stayed to talk with police. Anyone with information on the crash should call the Grand Junction Police Department at 242-6707.
