Three Western Slope residents appointed to state water panel
Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper has appointed three Western Slope residents to the Interbasin Compact Committee, which addresses statewide water issues. Altogether, the governor appoints six of the 27 members on the board.
His Western Slope appointees are:
Eric Kuhn of Glenwood Springs, a Democrat and general manager of the Colorado River District.
Republican rancher T. Wright Dickinson of Maybell.
Carbondale water attorney and Democrat Peter D. Nichols.
Hickenlooper’s other appointees are Democrat and environmental attorney Melinda Kassen of Boulder; attorney Taylor Hawes of Lafayette, an unaffiliated voter and Colorado River program director for the Nature Conservancy; and Wayne Vanderschuere of Colorado Springs, who is unaffiliated and serves as water resources manager at Colorado Springs Utilities.
