Tipton water storage hearing in Washington set

A congressional hearing on the difficulties of developing water storage in the West will go forward next week in Washington, D.C.

The hearing has been scheduled for 8 a.m. MST Tuesday in the Longworth House Office Building, Room 1324, at the request of U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton, R-Colo. Tipton said communities “are hindered by an unwieldy regulatory framework” that impairs the ability to store water for vital purposes.

Water storage is needed to help communities support jobs that depend on water, and to protect food, control flooding, ensure recreation opportunities, provide water for the development of hydropower, and meet environmental-protection needs, Tipton said.
