Traffic Alert, June 3, 2012

Road closures and maintenance projects may affect traffic this week:

Street striping: City crews are striping streets for the next four weeks. Striping is done for the safety, guidance, and benefit of all vehicles on our streets. However, drivers are often impatient during striping operations. Motorists are asked to pay attention to the signs and arrow boards on the striping vehicles. Pass with caution and slow down. Do not drive on the wet paint.

Asphalt overlays will take place from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. in several locations around the city in June. Milling is done first, followed by paving operations. Next week’s schedule is:

June 3–4: Asphalt milling on Patterson Road from 24 to 24 1/2 Road, followed by asphalt paving June 6–7.

June 5–6: Asphalt milling on Patterson Road between 25 and 26 roads, followed by paving June 10–11.

June 7: Asphalt milling on Seventh Street between Patterson Road north to Horizon Drive, followed by paving June 12.

One lane of traffic will remain open in each direction, and flaggers will be directing traffic.

2012 Interstate 70 Business construction, phase 2: The Colorado Department of Transportation and Interstate Highway Construction, Inc. have started the I-70B Widening Project to improve U.S. Highway 6&50 between 24 3/4 Road past the 25 Road intersection. The project involves concrete reconstruction, a new storm sewer system, an updated signal system, utility relocation, curb, gutter, sidewalk and landscaping. This project is paid for in part by Colorado FASTER.

25 Road/Riverside Parkway northbound and southbound traffic is shut down through the I-70B (U.S. Highway 6&50) intersection. Concrete paving is scheduled to start the middle of the week and crews will focus on the new concrete pavement intersection work in order to reopen the intersection by no later than June 16.

All left turns at the intersection will be closed but all right turns will remain operational. I-70B traffic will have a continuous green light during the closure. Detour signage will be in place on 25 Road and Riverside Parkway providing alternate routes onto Riverside and Patterson. All local business access will remain open

Ute Waterline Replacement: Ute Water is replacing a waterline in B 1/2 Road from 27 3/4 Road to 29 Road. Work will take place in two segments, with the first segment from 27 3/4 Road to 28 1/2 Road. Detours will be marked and will use U.S. Highway 50. The project will continue throughout the summer.

31 and D 1/2 Road bridge replacement: Mesa County is rebuilding the bridge at the intersection of 31 Road and D 1/2 Road. The intersection of 31 Road and D 1/2 Road is closed during construction. Detours will be along D, E Road, 32 or 30 roads. The project is scheduled for completion by June 18.
