Road closures and maintenance projects may affect traffic this week:
■ 2012 Interstate 70 Business Roadway Construction – Phase 2: The Colorado Department of Transportation and Interstate Highway Construction, Inc. continue the I-70B Widening Project to improve Highway 6 & 50 between 24 3/4 Road past the 25 Road intersection. The project involves concrete reconstruction, a new storm sewer system; an updated signal system; utility relocation, curb, gutter, sidewalk and landscaping. This project is paid for in part by Colorado FASTER. Work is scheduled through October.
■ Ute Waterline Replacement in 26 Road: Ute Water is replacing an 18” waterline. 26 Road is closed to through traffic from H Road to I Road until late October. Detours will be marked.
■ City Waterline Replacement Projects – Orchard Avenue and 24th Street:Waterline work is underway on Orchard Avenue. from 23rd Street to 24th Street and 24th Street from Orchard Avenue to Bookcliff Avenue. Orchard Avenue will be closed to traffic between 23rd Street and 24th Streets. Detours will be marked. Paving operations are planned for Oct. 18–19. Residents who live on the north side of Orchard Avenue are encouraged to use 26th Street for access. The project is estimated to be completed by the end of October.
■ Central Grand Valley Sanitation District (CGVSD) Sewer Line Replacement Project: CGVSD is replacing the existing sewer line in Karen Lee Subdivision on F 1/4 Road, 29 1/4 Road, Karen Lee Drive and Karen Court. The project will continue through the third week of November.
■ Mesa County Bridge closure: Mesa County has closed the bridge north of Fruita on 17 1/2 Road and M.3 Road. The intersection is closed and traffic will be rerouted while the bridge is being rebuilt. The closure is in place through Dec. 15.
