Road closures and maintenance projects may affect traffic this week:
■ 2012 Interstate 70 Business Roadway Construction – Phase 2
Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and Interstate Highway Construction, Inc. (IHC) continue the I-70B Widening Project to improve U.S. Highway 6&50 between 24 3/4 Road past the 25 Road intersection. The project involves concrete reconstruction, a new storm sewer system; an updated signal system; utility relocation, curb, gutter, sidewalk and landscaping. This project is paid for in part by Colorado FASTER. Work is currently scheduled through October.
Expect to see crews continue paving curb and gutter, sidewalk and drives throughout the week. Irrigation crews will continue installing main lines from 24 1/2 Road to the east. Electrical crews will continue working on street lighting and conduit. Dirt crews will be grading for sidewalk and drives.
■ Ute Waterline Replacement in 26 Road: 26 Road is closed to through traffic from H Road to I Road until late October. Detours will be marked.
■ City Waterline Replacement Projects – Grand Avenue: MA Concrete is working on a waterline installation on Grand Avenue between Second and Fifth streets. The outside westbound lane will be closed during construction. Traffic lanes will be shifted to the south. The project is estimated to be completed by October 12.
■ City Waterline Replacement Projects – Orchard Avenue and 24th Street: Waterline work is under way on Orchard Avenue from 23rd Street to 24th Street and 24th Street from Orchard Avenue to Bookcliff Avenue. Orchard Avenue will be closed to traffic between 23rd Street and 24th Street. Detours will be marked.
Residents who live on the north side of Orchard Avenue are encouraged to use 26th Street for access.
The project is estimated to be completed in November.
■ Central Grand Valley Sanitation District (CGVSD) Sewer Line Replacement Project: CGVSD is replacing the existing sewer line in Karen Lee Subdivision on F 1/4 Road, 29 1/4 Road, Karen Lee Drive and Karen Court. The project will continue through the third week in November.
■ Street Striping: City crews are striping streets. Motorists are asked to pay attention to the signs and arrow boards on the striping vehicles. Pass with caution and slow down. Do not drive on the wet paint.
■ Mesa County Bridge closure at 17 1/2 Road and M.3 Road: The intersection is closed and traffic will be rerouted while the bridge is being rebuilt. The closure is in place through Dec. 15.
