Traffic Alert, April 11, 2010
Road closures and maintenance projects may affect traffic this week:
D Road Bridge Replacement construction will start Monday on D Road bridge (southeast of Monument Road) that crosses No Thoroughfare Wash. D Road will be closed to through traffic from the intersection at Monument Road to the south. Residents and visitors to the Rosevale area will be directed to use South Redlands Road as the detour. Slow down on this detour — South Redlands Road is narrow, steep, and has several blind curves. The detour is on a school bus route and is also used by pedestrians and bicycle riders. The project will be completed by Aug. 19.
Downtown Uplift: Main Street is closed between First and Fourth streets. One lane of Fourth Street remains closed at Main Street, but you can turn east on Main Street at Fourth Street. Parking is open at the Rood Avenue parking structure and the Colorado Avenue lots. All sidewalks in front of Main Street businesses remain open and access is available to many businesses through the back door.
2010 Waterline Replacement Project — Phase 1: Orchard Avenue is closed to through traffic from Seventh Street to Cannell Avenue. Only residents who live on Orchard Avenue are allowed to use the street. The detour uses Bookcliff Avenue from Seventh Street to 12th Street to bypass the closure on Orchard Avenue. The work should be completed at the end of April.
Phase 2 Waterline Replacements: Work continues on 15th Street from Elm Avenue north to Bookcliff Court. Closures will be one block long at a time, with no through traffic allowed. Detours will be marked. The project will continue through the end of April.
26 ½ Road bridge reconstruction at F 1/2 Road: The bridge over the Grand Valley Highline Canal just north of F 1/2 Road is closed for replacement through April 16. Detours for northbound traffic will be via Horizon Drive, and southbound traffic will be detoured at G Road to 26 Road (First Street).
2010 Parkway Sanitary Sewer Interceptor Project construction work will begin on a new sewer from the intersection of 15th Street and Winters Avenue south to the Parkway, then west along Struthers Avenue to just west of Fifth Street. During construction there will be single-lane, two-directional traffic on Struthers Avenue near the work zone. The project will be completed in July.
29 Road between D and D 1/2 roads is closed to through traffic for construction on the 29 Road overpass. Access for residents will be maintained. The closure is expected to last through the winter.
