By SENTINEL STAFF
Twenty-seven nominees from western Colorado were honored March 31 at The Nightingale Award for Human Caring ceremony at Colorado Mesa University.
Nightingale Award ceremonies honor registered nurses from across Colorado for their contributions to the nursing profession and their commitment to representing the altruistic characteristics of Florence Nightingale. Ceremonies are hosted in various regions in the state, and nominees are selected by a state committee.
This year’s local honorees are: Jessica Barnes; Susan Bevan; Beth Brown; Stephany Conway; Darlene Crocker; Amy DuCray; Erin Fleming; Carlene Gagliardi; Michelle Garvin; Bethany Hoffman; Janel Jesser; Shannon Johnson; Peggy Link; Danette MacMillan; Susan Mathews; Jillian Miller; Anastasia Pemberton; Heidi Power; Maria Rubio; Kathleen Ryan; Pamela Schultz; Steve Tatum; Lynn Tremblay; Karen Tucker; Janet Tuttle; Debra Wayland and Cynthia Wilbur.
Mathews, Pemberton, Rubio, Schultz, and Wayland will receive the Luminary Award at the state Nightingale event May 19 in Westminster. Luminary Award winners from across the state will be eligible for the single Nightingale Award. The recipient of that award will be announced at the state event.
