UPDATE: Two shot dead at home near Mesa
The Mesa County Sheriff’s Department said there was no “ongoing public safety concern” following the reported discovery this morning of the bodies of two adults who had been shot.
“Investigators have no belief there is an involved suspect at-large,” the department said in a release.
Sgt. Matt Lewis said nobody was in custody, either.
The department stopped short of calling the incident at 10389 48 Road, just west of Mesa, a suspected act of murder-suicide or double homicide.
Lewis said a 911 caller reported just before 8 a.m. discovering the body of an adult inside of the home. The caller soon after reported finding a second body in the home, Lewis said. Both suffered gunshot wounds, he said. Lewis identified the 911 caller as a “friend of the family.” The genders and identities of the deceased were not released.
