Two Colorado Mountain College board members lose re-election bids

Both incumbents seeking re-election to the Colorado Mountain College board of trustees lost in this week’s election.

Stan Orr, the board president and the trustee for eastern Garfield County, was defeated by Kathy Goudy, a Carbondale attorney, 10,885–8,737.

Pat Chlouber defeated incumbent Wesley Duran, 9,946–9,181, in the race for the Lake County seat.

Although board members serve districts, they are elected by voters in all six counties that make up the college’s taxing jurisdiction.

In other board races, Ken Brenner won the Routt County seat, defeating John Fielding, 10,386–9,049. They were competing for a seat vacated when Shalee Cunningham moved from the district.

In Summit County, Robert Taylor prevailed over Richard Hague, 10,392–7,237, in the race to replace Richard Bateman, who was forced from office by term limits.

As board members, Orr and Duran were involved in CMC securing approval to begin offering four-year degrees, something it began doing this fall.
