Unemployment rate increase in GJ, state

Non-seasonally-adjusted unemployment increased one-tenth of a percent in the Grand Junction metropolitan area in May compared to April.

May’s unemployment rate locally was 9.9 percent. Colorado’s unemployment rate also increased, going from 8.3 percent in April to 8.5 percent in May.

Starting this month, the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment is no longer releasing seasonally-adjusted unemployment numbers for metro areas at the same time as non-seasonally-adjusted figures. Seasonally-adjusted data will be released in two weeks.
