Vehicle smacks pedestrian; driver sought

Photo by Dean Humphrey—Investigators stand over the shoe of a 30-year-old Clifton man who was hit by a vehicle early Sunday while walking along E Road. The Colorado State Patrol didn’t know what kind of vehicle hit the man, but said it may have a windshield damaged by the impact.

Authorities were looking for the driver of a vehicle that hit and seriously injured a pedestrian early Sunday morning near 3182 E Road.

Around 4:25 a.m., Keith O. Gustad, 30, Clifton, was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital after he was hit by the vehicle, the Colorado State Patrol said in a news release.

His condition later Sunday was unknown.

The vehicle was heading west along E Road when it hit Gustad near the edge of the road, the news release said.

There was no evidence on scene to indicate the make or model of the vehicle that hit Gustad.

However, the State Patrol said that it suspects the vehicle has significant damage to its windshield on the passenger side.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact State Patrol at 970-249-4392.
