Water, beach themes of library’s summer reading program for kids and adults
Mesa County Libraries wants to “Make a Splash” with this summer’s reading program for children, teens and adults.
The prizes and activities are water-themed or beach-themed. Examples of prizes are pool passes for children and a rafting trip from Rimrock Adventures for adults.
Teenagers could win Apple iPod Nanos, which have nothing to do with water. But it’s an iPod.
For children, prizes will be determined by number of hours spent reading this summer.
For teens and adults, the focus will be on number of pages read.
Registration for “Make a Splash” is free but required either online at http://www.mcpld.org or at any Mesa County Libraries branch.
The program runs June 1 through July 31.
Registration begins Friday, May 21.
A puppet show to introduce the summer program to children will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 22; 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 25; 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 26; and 10 a.m. Thursday, May 27.
