Western Colorado under flood watch
Nearly all of western Colorado and eastern Utah is under a flood watch through Monday evening, as an abundance of moisture from Mexico and a tropical storm is expected to push into the region and could drop as much as 2 inches of rain in some areas.
The watch, issued by the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, is in effect from noon Sunday through 6 p.m. Monday.
“Abundant moisture lifting northward from Mexico and Tropical Storm Ivo will spread across eastern Utah Sunday and last through Monday afternoon,” the Weather Service reported on its website. “Excessive rainfall may occur within the watch area with localized rainfall amounts in excess of two inches possible.”
Forecasters say people in the watch area should monitor forecasts through Monday and high recommend residents avoid areas that are prone to any form of flooding, including flash floods.
