Wildfire meetings scheduled

The Mesa County Sheriff’s Department, in collaboration with local fire protection districts and state and federal land management agencies, will conduct two meetings about development of a countywide community wildfire protection plan.

Officials will meet with area landowners about topics such as identifying areas of risk, defining the local wildland-urban interface boundary, setting priorities for treating wildland fuels and establishing wildfire preparedness objectives.

Meetings will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Glade Park Community Center, 101 S. 16 1/2 Road, and 6 p.m. Friday at Wingate Elementary School, 351 South Camp Road, in the cafeteria.

For information, call Mesa County Emergency Manager Andy Martsolf at 244-1763.
