Wine Country Inn to appear on game show
A contestant will be offered the chance to “come on down” to Wine Country Inn on Tuesday’s episode of “The Price is Right.”
CBS asked Wine Country Inn General Manager Jerome Strack in April if he would be willing to donate a six-night stay at the inn so it could appear as part of a prize package on the popular game show, which airs at 10 a.m. on weekdays on CBS.
“I certainly was (interested) for the national exposure,” Strack said.
The show was taped in June but Strack cannot reveal the value of the prize or if anyone won the trip until the show airs. He said he doesn’t know if the prize was part of a showcase showdown, which is a bundle of prizes a contestant can win at the end of the show, or if the inn will be featured in another segment on the show.
Strack said he plans to have a small viewing party Tuesday morning at the inn. He has been told by CBS that the inn will get 10 seconds of air time in front of 5 million viewers. The network told Strack that equates to $10,000 in marketing.
Strack said he hopes all local tourist destinations see a boost in customers after the show airs.
“What we’re hoping for is exposure for our area, not just the Wine Country Inn. So many people have never heard of Palisade,” he said.
If one television appearance can generate some buzz, Strack hopes a second cameo would cause a stir.
“I’m trying to get the hotel on ‘Wheel of Fortune’ but it’s pretty hard to get ahold of those people,” he said.
