Wreck kills woman on motorcycle

A woman is dead after the motorcycle she was driving hit a guardrail Saturday along Colorado Highway 139 near Douglas Pass.

The woman, who was not identified, was driving a 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle north around 4 p.m. when she veered into a guardrail along the right side of the road near a curve about 34 miles north of Loma, the Colorado State Patrol said.

The woman was thrown 150 feet down an embankment, the State Patrol said.

The Mesa County Coroner pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

Alcohol, drugs or excessive speed were not considered contributing factors, the State Patrol said.

The agency will continue its investigation.
