Xcel gas bills to be about $9 less in June compared to 2008
Xcel Energy’s residential customers can expect to pay about $9 less for natural gas this June compared to last June, about a 30 percent reduction. Meanwhile, small-business owners will save about $56.50, or 38 percent, this June compared to last.
The proposed per therm price for next month is 40 cents, up from the current 29 cent per therm price this month. In June 2008 natural gas cost 93 cents per therm.
Typical residential bills next month will be $21.26, compared to $25.53 this month, and $30.43 in June 2008, Xcel said. Typical small businesses can expect bills around $93 in June, compared to $133.09 this month, and $150.29 last June.
While the per therm price is increasing, customer rates should go down due to the reduction of natural gas use because of the warmer weather.
