You Said It Column November 27, 2008

• Many, many thanks to the wonderful person who found and turned in my checkbook to the customer service department of Wal-Mart on Nov. 19. A fantastic thing to do in these difficult times. Blessings to you on Thanksgiving.

• Perhaps the gentleman who couldn’t understand why folks reacted viscerally to his sign comparing president-elect Obama to Stalin might review his history. Other than a history of bloody purges, starving millions of Ukrainian kulaks during forced collectivization of farms and the entire system of slave labor in the gulags, the comparison has limited validity. What uproar would have happened if a sign displayed a comparison of Hitler and Bush? Neither comparison is valid and bomb throwers should not be surprised when people strike back hard.

• Would someone please explain the difference between a Labradoodle and a mutt and why their owners think they should be so expensive?
