Young driver cited in vehicle vs. elderly pedestrian accident

A 16-year-old girl whose vehicle slid off B 1/2 Road this morning, striking a 91-year-old man, has been cited with careless driving, the Colorado State Patrol said.

The accident happened this morning just after 7 a.m. near 2936 B 1/2 Road on Orchard Mesa. CSP Trooper Josh Lewis said that icy conditions were a factor when the girl’s car left the road and contacted the elderly man, who allegedly was walking along the roadway. Lewis said the man was transported to a local hospital with serious, but non life-threatening, injuries.
