Alzheimer’s Walk 10 a.m. Saturday

The 20th anniversary Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Grand Junction. Registration is at 9 a.m. at the Lincoln Park Barn near the intersection of Teller Avenue and 12th Street.

Kindness campaign benefits United Way

Want to feel better? One of the healthiest things you can do is be kind to others. LiveWell has launched its “Kindness Counts” campaign. The goal is to see how many acts of kindness residents can do in 30 days by donating coins in a kindness can. Kindness cans can be made from recycled materials and can be decorated with art found on the LiveWell Web site. The cans are to be placed in public places. Cans must be delivered to American National Bank on or before Oct. 15 for a final kindness tally. Proceeds will be donated to United Way. Golf tourney to help rollover victim

The Bridges Golf Course is sponsoring a silent auction, lunch and golf tournament Monday for Montrose native Jacob Vaughn, who was seriously injured in a car accident. Silent auction and lunch for the Jacob Vaughn Face Off starts at 11 a.m. The tournament starts at 1 p.m., shotgun. A $75 fee covers the green fee and lunch. Vaughn was driving to New Mexico to meet a friend when he was involved in a rollover accident in which his vehicle rolled seven times. He underwent reconstructive surgery to his face and skull. Vaughn, who graduated from Montrose High School in May, is recovering but facing large medical bills.

Garfield County Health Department is hosting numerous flu shot clinics. Vaccines are $20 for adults and $10 for children ages 6 months to 18 years. Cash or check only. Clinics are as follows:

• 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday in Battlement Mesa at Willow Park Apartments, 1230 W. Battlement Parkway.

• 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 29 in Glenwood Springs at the Community Center, 100 Wulfsohn Road.

• 9 a.m. to 3 p.m Oct. 6 in Glenwood Springs in the county commissioners meeting room, 108 Eighth St., and from 8 a.m. 5 p.m. in Rifle at the Public Health Office, 195 W. 14th St.

• 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 7 in Glenwood Springs at the Public Health Office, 2401 Blake Ave., and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Rifle at the Public Health Office, 195 W. 14th St.
