You Said It, July 20, 2008

Saturday, July 19, 2008

Folks, step up and donate to Roice-Hurst Humane Society. This valley and the animals need them to stay open.

If you don’t understand the separation of church and state, I suggest you move one state to the west. The lines between the two blur there.

To the person complaining about people that you think are in a hurry: Maybe we’re just going the speed limit. Please speed up.

Perhaps the City Council should consider reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in place of an invocation. The pledge isn’t unconstitutional, is it ?

The way I see it, they should close all roads going into and out of California and just let it burn.

For those who wish to see separation of church and state, require churches to pay taxes or stay out of politics and government meetings. Then we’ll see who wants separation.

Twelve atheists wish to determine the fate of prayer prior to weekly City Council meetings. Hurray for democracy.

I am a Grand Valley native and serve on a city council in a small town in Kansas. We pray before every council meeting for “leadership and guidance.”

If everyone went their own way with their religion and had tolerance for everyone else’s religion there would be no problem. The atheists don’t think believers should be able to voice their ways, but what makes them think they can voice that they don’t believe and to cause problems that shouldn’t be problems?

Why should we be expected to “suck it up” and do without so the big oil companies can net record profits in multiple billions every quarter?

This morning on the news I heard George W. say that the American economy is strong and growing. Well, he lied about Iraq, too.

I find it laughable that the “progressives” can’t remember who has controlled Congress lately.

Thank you President Bush. I was glad to get the rebate check. I stimulated the economy in Grand Junction, even though it seems to be humming right along just fine.

Congratulations, Grand Valley, on the purchase of your new unnecessary armored assault vehicle.  In a community where food and shelter for the homeless and needy is always in the press, it’s good to see the powers that be put the free “drug” money to the best use. Oh!  Gotta have it in the parades!  What a waste of money.  Who was at the helm on this one?

To the ignoramus who wrote to You Said It that right wing conservatives have been in control of the government for the last seven years:  Go do your homework.  The Democrats took control of the Congress more than a year and a half ago. The Democrat philosophy is, “Do nothing and it will go away.”

As a result of this policy, we have an energy crisis, increased illegal immigration, a floundering economy, a bear market, and a failing education system, - to name just a few.  The approval rating for this Democrat Congress has sunk to a well-deserved all-time low of 9 percent.  Obama’s solutions:  Raise taxes, destroy our military, and speak Spanish.
