I want to say thank you to the gentleman at the dollar store in Parachute. At the cash register, I gave the clerk my credit card and she said they didn’t take credit cards, cash only. He stepped up and paid my tab. How great to know great people still exist.

I read the article about Gus, the therapy dog at St. Mary’s Hospital. What a wonderful addition to the hospital. I hope he recovers quickly and continues to do great work. Thanks Gus.

A great big thank you to the waiter at Red Robin who brought a cup of water out to my husband when he broke down. It was hot and he couldn’t get a hold of me, and it helped him a lot. Also a big thank you to the customers who stopped and helped him, then towed him to a safer place, until I could pick him up.

I want to thank those guys in the purple truck. They were on their normal trash route and saw me with a flat tire. They stopped and completely changed my tire. And they would not even take a tip. Thank you.

Bless the person who gave my lost elegant pin to the bank for safekeeping. You “made my day” and I’m extremely grateful.

At Wal-Mart on Saturday afternoon, I had one item. Four people insisted I go ahead of them. “Thanks,” I said. My husband is standing at the front and his oxygen tank is not working very good. Then a guy said, “follow me and I’ll get you out of here.” He did. Thanks, guys.

My heartfelt thanks go to all the ladies at the Emergency Veterinary Clinic. I panicked when I saw how swollen my dog’s face was from an abscess caused by a foxtail. You helped her immediately and saved me from a nervous breakdown. Thank you all.

If you are driving slow supposedly to “conserve gas” or just unconscious, do it in the right lane. That will save us from having to pass you in the right lane.

Thank you to the city for leaving their shop yard open on weekends so I can drop off my recycling when it’s convenient.

To the very kind lady who went out of her way to help a bicyclist with a flat tire: Your help was greatly appreciated. It’s people like you who restore faith in humanity.

I just wanted to say thank you to the man who stopped and changed my tire for me at the Mesa County Fairgrounds on Tuesday night. It was dark, and I was alone. Your parents raised a fine young man. Thanks again.

Folks, step up and donate to Roice-Hurst Humane Society. This valley and the animals need them to stay open.

The Fruita Monument High School Drumline and Marching Band would like to thank all of those who helped make both of our recent bake sale fundraisers a huge success.

To the casts and waitstaff at the Cabaret — thank you so much. You were great. To the McConnells — I’ve held season tickets since your second production, and enjoyed every single visit. I’m so sorry our community couldn’t give you the success you deserve. Better luck in the future.

A big thank-you to all the people that offered us help when our car died at the light on U.S. Highway 50 and 32 Road on July 5. And also to the State Trooper that stayed with us until the car was on the tow truck. Hope you get that sailboat soon.

An enormous thank you to the people on Orchard Mesa who saw and responded to the fall my mother-in-law took on June 21. Her leg was broken, but her spirits remained high, knowing that so many kind people took the time to assist her.

Thanks to City Market, Safeway and Kmart for donating the food and drinks to the barbecue at the veterans hospital last Tuesday afternoon. Love to see big corporations contribute to the community in such a big way. Thanks also goes to the Patriot Guard Riders for providing the labor to make the event a success.

Yesterday we visited the Long Family Memorial Park. What a beautiful asset to our community.

As construction of the double roundabouts is almost finished, I would like express my appreciation for the hard-working flagpersons. They were unfailingly efficient and courteous in directing the steady stream of traffic through the area.

I would like to thank Kathy Jordan for the new historical column she is now writing in The Daily Sentinel. She has contributed much toward preserving the history of GJ, and now I have her column to look forward to (as well as the other history columns). What a positive thing for GJ and great reading, too.
