GJ park fight involves 20 juveniles
A juvenile was assaulted with a tire iron early Saturday during fight at Sherwood Park between two groups of juveniles, which caused more than $1,000 in damage to two vehicles, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.
The confrontation began around 1:30 between occupants of two vehicles parked at 1301 E. Sherwood Drive and another group of juveniles, Sgt. Pete Chapola said. A total of 20 juveniles were at the park during the confrontation, he said.
A vehicle’s rear window was broken out with the tire iron and a juvenile threatened with it, Chapola said. He said the report will be forwarded to an intelligence officer to determine whether gang activity was involved.
Man suspected of menacing with gun
A Gateway man was behind bars Saturday night after he was accused of shooting a gun from about mile marker 11 on Colorado Highway 141 toward a home and its residents, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department. Robin Alexander Eugene Lemelle, 26, was booked into Mesa County Jail on suspicion of felony menacing and prohibited use of a weapon.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
• Someone attempted to mail illegal substances from a home in the 1200 block of 12th Street.
• A woman was assaulted and items valued at more than $1,000 were taken from a home in the 2100 block of College Place.
• Jesus Villarruel, 35, was arrested on a warrant on suspicion of second-degree assault and harassment. He has been accused of causing serious bodily injury to a person in the 400 block of Main Street.
• Kurt J. Huber, 35, was arrested and booked into Mesa County Jail on suspicion of assaulting a person in the 2800 block of North Avenue.
According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:
• Someone pulled up small solar lights from along a driveway in the 400 block of Chatfield Drive. Damage estimated to be $250 was caused to lawn ornaments and plants at the home.
• A rock was thrown through a front window of a home in the 3000 block of Wedgewood Avenue, causing about $500 in damage.
• A resident in the 1700 block of Whitewater Creek Road reported a stolen credit card number and $2,432 of fraudulent charges made to the account.
• A resident in the 2900 block of Cedar Place reported a lost debit card and losing an estimated $500 from a checking account.
• About $1,500 in damage was reported after someone threw a rock at a vehicle in the 500 block of Dawn Court.
