Man says he was jumped, robbed

A man reportedly was robbed of items valued at less than $1,000 after he was approached by three unknown men near the underpass of Colorado Highway 340 and Crosby Avenue, according to the Grand Junction Police Department. About 8 p.m. Sunday, a man told authorities he was walking in the area when three men jumped him, causing minor injuries. No weapons were involved, said officer Cory Toms.

Teens accused of breaking into cars

Two boys, both 17, were arrested on suspicion of theft after an investigation showed that they broke into five vehicles and attempted to break into five other vehicles in the 1100 block of Santa Clara Avenue, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.

The boys stole less than $100 in property from one of the vehicles they allegedly broke into Saturday night, said officer Cory Toms. Both juveniles were turned over to the Division of Youth Corrections.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

• Juanita Salazar, 33, of Fruita, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.

• A juvenile victim was assaulted in the southeast quadrant of Grand Junction on Friday. The investigation is ongoing so no other information was released.

• Someone broke into a vehicle, causing $1,000 in damage in the 900 block of North 12th Street. Once inside the vehicle, someone stole less than $1,000 in property.

• Someone entered an unlocked apartment in the 800 block of Main Street, stealing less than $1,000 in property.

• Someone caused more than $1,000 in damage to property in the 700 block of Horizon Drive.

• Someone stole less than $1,000 of property from a vehicle and storage shed in the 500 block of North 19th Street.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:

• Someone in the 800 block of 23 Road reported that someone stuck two lit firecrackers into his metal mailbox. Damage is minimal.

• A driver’s license was found in the 500 block of Sara Lane.

• A man in the 400 block of 32 1/8 Road reported that someone spray-painted on his fence with red and black paint.
