Man arrested on suspicion of threats

A Grand Junction man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of threatening two people with a gun, the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department said.

Hector Espinoza, 38, 3015 Milburn Drive, waved a gun at the people and chased after them in his vehicle, according to an arrest affidavit.

Espinoza told deputies he asked the people why they assaulted his nephew at a local bar a few months ago. He also said he carries a gun because of his job with a security company, according to an arrest affidavit.

Espinoza could be charged with menacing with a deadly weapon and harassment.

Man arrested after traffic stop

Renell Garcia, 46, no address, was arrested Thursday after a traffic stop at Unaweep Avenue and Pine Street, when he was alletedly found in possession of suspected drugs and marijuana, Grand Junction police reported.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and an assortment of traffic violations.

Drug, paraphernalia possession alleged

Benjamin Raff, 22, 321 Rosevale Road, was arrested Thursday on Bunting Avenue in Clifton. He is accused of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and two traffic-related offenses..

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

• Iris Apodaca, 18, was given a summons Thursday on suspicion of theft after she allegedly stole merchandise from Kohl’s, 636 Market St.

• Someone entered a home in the 1200 block of Bunting Avenue on Wednesday and stole items valued at less than $1,000.

• Someone stole tool boxes and tools valued at more than $1,000 from a garage in the 1200 block of Ouray Avenue on Wednesday.

• Someone stole power tools valued at more than $1,000 from a building in the 1000 block of Grand Avenue on Thursday.

• Someone stole a purse from a vehicle in the 100 block of Park Drive on Thursday.

• Someone stole a tow chain from a truck at 31 and E roads on Wednesday.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:

• Carla Petersen, 48, 415 Morning Dove Drive, was arrested Thursday on a warrant on suspicion of theft of less than $500.

• A man living on Chablis Court reported Thursday that someone broke into his vehicle and stole a rifle and a pistol.
